So I just bought a 1972 Buick Electra 225 Limited today - in -25 C weather to boot - and I am extremly pleased with it. Runs and drives like a champ on the first day, has a 455 CID (7.5 Liter) V8 with a 4 BBL carb (all stock), and it’s brown! Has an indicated 96,060 miles. Size wise we are talking 19'-0" long, 6'-8" wide, and right around the 4,800 lbs mark. There will be many fun days with this land barge.

An old deuce & quarter still rolling! A bargain if you buy your cars by the pound. You look like a man who is mainly interested in the size of the backseat:)

Wow! That's an awesome car!

Son, you got ripped off.
Where is the helicopter? That trunk lid is clearly meant to double as a landing pad.

Where did you buy this? There was one for sale near me (South Dakota) last week. The guy sold it within 2 hours of putting up the ad. I was VERY interested in buying it but was too slow
It, too, was a 72 or (71?) Electra 225 with the 7.4 in black
Edit: nevermind, different car

I grew up riding in my Dad’sblue ‘65 225 with the 454. What a great car, and I doubt that there was ever a car made that had a smoother ride than that. It was like riding on a cloud...had the turning radius of an aircraft carrier though.

I wish i had jumped on it sooner - a running and driving classic for barely a grand is a steal.
Oh well, next time.

Tomorrow is supposed to be about 0 C (32 F), so it’s easily warm enough to wash. The last two days have been around the -20 C mark (-8 F).

4,700-4,800 lbs and it was $2,000 CDN before safety. Works out to about $0.42/lb. Steal of a deal if you put it in those terms, right?

Indeed. Every time I dig deeper into this thing, it gets better. I found all the original documents (7 total and a couple I’ve never even heard of) including owners manual, Dispositifs Antipollution, and the vehicle warranty (12 months or 12,000 miles back in the day).

Bought this beast in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. It was the previous owners daily driver, through summer, winter, and any weather. Crazy to think that you just jump into a 45 year old car with 96,000 miles in any weather and drive to work. I’m going to be driving this more like 90% summer, 10% winter, and slowly restore it to its original shape (it doesn’t need many big things, just a combination of like 20 or 25 little things).

Sweet. Is the interior in good shape, or will it need some tlc?

wow.... that's so cold

Interior is actually in great shape. Smells like the 1970s, has a bit of faded water-stain on the seats but not bad at all. Headliner is not sagging one millimeter. Dash isn’t even cracked. All original inside.

Love your car! I’ve been very fortunate to own many of these during my life. The 72's were my favorite year before the ugly government mandated 5 mph bumpers destroyed the styling in 73. Between my Dad and myself we had 7 different Electras and Limiteds during the 80's to the mid 2000's. My favorite was my 2 door Limited. Unfortunately living in the east coast meant some could have real rust issues.
I was able to purchase an original 29K Limited around 2004 and it was a joy to drive. I don’t ever remember having any serious issues with any of ours. They were all extremely reliable and easy to drive.
Good luck with yours. Take good care of it and it will run forever.
